Robin
Martin started Gateaux, Inc. in 1996, coming from a background in
portrait photography at a studio specializing in a high volume of
weddings. "I got tired of seeing wedding proofs showing unique
couples with original wedding motifs, and run of the mill cakes,"
she explains.
Recognizing a void in the market, Robin founded Gateaux, Inc. Decorating with rolled fondant over a base of buttercream, she creates exceptional designs.
The fondant's flexibility allows her to fashion each cake as unique as her
client.
Over a decade later, Gateaux remains small and flexible, in order to live up to its
original goals. Limiting the number of events that they'll take per weekend ensures that their clients receive the utmost in personalized service. "I love the challenge of incorporating a couple's
style into their cake design," Robin states. "Besides, it's fun to get to rifle through
our client's wedding files for inspiration." Once they've explored
all the possibilities, Gateaux, Inc. always comes up with a truly
original design.
